Spring Meeting: A “sneak preview” of Virginia’s Newest State Park - The Powhatan State Park on the Historic James
When: Sunday, April 21st, 3:00-5:00 P.M.
Where: 4748 Powhatan State Park Road at end of Old River Trail (West of Route 522)
Program: Learn how the State Park came to be; enjoy a hay ride tour of the grounds.
Note: This is a rain or shine event. We will meet at the “E. Floyd Yates Conservation Area” under a pavilion; however, you will need to bring a lawn chair and dress appropriately for the hay ride. Society will provide light refreshments.
Directions: From Powhatan. Take Route 60 to Route 522 North. Proceed 7.32 miles to Old River Trail, turn left and continue 1.4 miles to park entrance. Go through the gate to the parking area and follow the signs to the shelter. From Goochland. From Route 6, take 522 South across the James at Maidens into Powhatan, to Old River Trail, (approx. 1.9 miles) turn right and go 1.4 miles to Park entrance.
