Providence Presbyterian Church, USA Cmetery |
| Providence Presbyterian Church was organized in 1825 as "Powhatan Church", as a result of the work of ministers from Cumberland County. In 1831 the church moved into a new building, "Mount Carmel," located near Smith Cross Roads and the present Route 60. In 1890 the church moved into its present sanctuary with the name, "Providence Church." Genito Presbyterian Church was founded in 1909; by members of Providence living in the Genito area. |
The cemetery may be located by traveling approximately 6 miles west on Rt. 13 (Old Buckingham Road) from the intersection of Rt. 60 (Anderson Highway) and Rt. 522. Turn right on Ridge Road and the church and cemetery is about .1 miles on the right. The initial Providence Church cemetery listing was provided by a member of the Providence Church Administrative Committee on September 14, 2007.
