Ulysses M. Jasper

        Ulysses M. Jasper, 90, formerly of East Elmhurst, NY., native of Powhatan, VA., last residing at Sunrise Assisted Living of Bon Air, Richmond, VA., departed this life June 21, 2010. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Margaret Giles Jasper. He was one of 12 children born to the late Robert Edward and Mary Etta Funn Jasper. All 11 of his siblings predeceased him.

        Ulysses leaves to cherish his memory nieces, Yvonne J. Brown (Milton), Cynthia J. Hairston (Willie), LaCenia M. Jasper, Connie I. Lowber; nephews, Roy Gilliam (Loretta), Donald Gilliam, David Gilliam (Millie), Dr. Kenneth Gilliam, Clinton Irving (Nancy), Robert and Bernard Irving, E. Leon Jasper (Charmane), and Earl Jasper Jr.; two sisters-in-law, Eugertha Woods and Josephine Gaithers; great-nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends, most devoted former neighbor, Gavin Todman of East Elmhurst, NY.

        Funeral services were held June 26, 2010 at Shiloh Baptist Church, Rev. Phillip W. Carroll Jr. officiating. Interment church cemetery.
