Annie Virginia Hood Timberlake

        Annie Virginia Hood Timberlake, 94, of Powhatan, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2010 at her home with her family at her side. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Max Timberlake Sr.; and sisters, Ruth Robertson and Doris Deans.

        She is survived by her children, Max Timberlake Jr., James Timberlake and his wife, Gail, Betty Ann and her husband, Jack Russell Sr. and Virginia Merle and her husband, Glenn Lawman; sister, Helen Taylor; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; devoted caregivers, Cindy Gill and Cora Henderson.

        She was a native of Nottoway County and a graduate of Johnson-Willis Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1936.

        Throughout her life, she was active in many community service organizations, including the Red Cross, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, and served as a nurse in the very early days of the rescue squad.

        The family received friends at the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Hwy. (Rt 60), Powhatan.

        Funeral services were held Saturday in the Powhatan United Methodist Church, Interment Powhatan Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Powhatan United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
