        Elwood Gene Williams, 80, of Powhatan, passed away on March 10, 2010. He was born in Chesterfield County on July 19, 1929.

        He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen Keller Williams; daughter Terry Adcock Taylor and her husband, Grover; son, Ricky Williams and his wife, Cathi; grandchildren, Hunter, Brittany and Forest Williams; sisters, Margaret Tibbetts (Frank), Glennie Conkling; farming friend, Mike Chancellor and the members of Pine Tree Hunt Club.

        He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Estelle Condrey Williams, brother, Vernon Williams; sister, Louise Harris and Hazel McCormick.

        He was a man who loved his family and many friends with an open heart and quiet wisdom. He ran Elwood Williams and Son, a clearing and grading business, until his retirement after the family moved to Powhatan. He proudly served his country in Korea.

        The family received friends Saturday in the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Hwy. (Rt 60), Powhatan. Funeral services were held Sunday in the Muddy Creek Baptist Church. Interment church cemetery.
