Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery

Leroy Edward Johnson, son of Elizabeth Doswell Johnson and the late Griffin N. Johnson, was born August 4, 1956 in Richmond, Va.

At a young age he and his family moved to Powhatan, VA. He attended Powhatan County public schools, graduating with the class of 1975.

At an early age he was converted, baptized and joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Leroy was a smart, friendly, charming person. He was well known and well liked by all. He was willing to help others, especially with their cars. Leroy had a passion for cars and was always willing to make repairs for whoever needed them. He touched the lives of many and his smile will be missed.

On Saturday, August 2, 1997 he departed this life suddenly in Powhatan, Va.

He leaves to cherish his memory; his devoted mother, Elizabeth Johnson; one daughter, Shequita Harris; one sister, Delores E. Johnson; one brother, Griffin N. Johnson, Jr.; eight aunts, Mary Wingfield, Lillian Myrick, Geraldine Spurluck, Blanche Paige, Junniebelle Jones, Lucy Aho, Martha Grady and Ida Young; two uncles, Percy Johnson and Harry Johnson; one nephew, James M. Johnson; two nieces, Nancy J. Taylor and Laverne M. Johnson; one nephew-in-law, Ralph L. Taylor; one great nephew; two great nieces; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Tis often we remember how,
You touched our lives with love
The tmes we spent, before you went
To join the Lord above
But death is like a journey,
It does not mean the end
For soon, we too shall take the trip,
And be with you again.
