George N. Jackson

        George N. Jackson of Suiteland, Maryland, was born May 24, 1921 to the late Robert and Florence Lando Jackson in Baltimore, MD. He died July 5, 1986 in Greater South Eastern Hospital in Washington, DC.

        He joined the church in Baltimore, MD, at an early age, and later became a member of first Baptist Church (Marshall Heights), Washington, DC. He received his education in Baltimore, MD Public School System.

        His love for his family, the church, and community caused him to promote programs that would make this world a better place to live.

        He served as Cub Master for the Cub Scouts for many years. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the Disabled Veterans of Foreign Wars Organization.

        After leaving the military, he made his home in Washington, DC. He was employed by the District Government from 1948 to 1978. He also served as Chief Culinary at the Children's Center in Laurel, MD.

        His gentle, friendly and understanding manner will long be remembered by those who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Gladys Bell Jackson; daughter, Gwendolyn Jackson; foster daughter, Cassandra Jackson; three sons, Andre Jackson, Gary Jackson and Joseph Wilson; five grandchildren, Andre, Tiffany, Gerry, Jr., Andrea and Jessica; two sisters, Mary Jones and Lillian Jackson; two daughters-in-law, Earlene Jackson and Christine Wilson; and a host of other relatives and friends.
