OBITUARY

         Josephine J. Phillips, the daughter of the late Ernest and Annie Nash was born March 19, 1936 in Powhatan County, Virginia. On Sunday, September 9, 2001 death angels gently closed her eyes and took her to her heavenly home where pain will be no more and joy will be forever.

          Josephine attended the Powhatan County School System. She accepted Christ at an early age and was united with Hollywood Baptist Church.

          As a young adult she moved from Virginia and made New Jersey her home. However, she never forgot her ties with Powhatan. She visited whenever time permitted her to do so.

          Nu-Nu as she was affectionately called by her grandchildren, family and friends was a joy to be with. With all that is left to remember, she will be greatly missed; but never forgotten.
          She leaves to cherish her memories a devoted daughter and son-in-law; Joy E. and Gregory Payne, three grandchildren; Ashley, Brittany and Courtney Payne, three stepchildren; Dwight Phillips, Darlene Terrell and Denise Phillips, three brothers; Willie (Rosalee) Nash, Wardell (Catherine) Nash, Harold (Diane) Nash, two sisters; Geraldine Phillips (Lucius Nero), Ernestine (Roger) Taylor, three aunts, one uncle, 10 sisters-in-law, six brothers-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, God children, cousins, other relatives and friends.

SHE WORE A CROWN OF PATIENCE
AS SHE STRUGGLED ON AND ON,
AND HANDS THAT REST FOREVER
ARE THE HANDS THAT MADE HER HOME,
ALWAYS SO TRUE, UNSELFISH AND KIND
A FEW IN THE WORLD, EQUAL TO FIND
A BEAUTIFUL LIFE THAT CAME TO AN END
SHE DIED AS SHE LIVED, EVERYONE’S FRIEND.
