        Herman Spencer Brown, Jr. departed this life on Saturday, April 24, 1999 at Capitol Medical Center in Richmond, VA. He was born on July 22, 1948 to the late Herman S. Brown, Sr. and Mrs. Fannie Brown of Powhatan, VA.

        Herman Jr. joined the Greenbrier Baptist Church at an early age. He attended Sunday School and Church regularly. He attended Pocahontas Elementary and Powhatan High School. He later attended Belmead Trading School where he was able to utilize his skills in plumbing. He was hired as a plumber for Parks Heating and Plumbing. Herman Jr. also was employed at Wonder Bakery in Richmond, VA for many years. He worked as a maintenance supervisor at the Days' Inn until his health failed.

        He leaves to mourn and cherish his memories: one son, Tony Michael Brown, one grandson, Derrick Michael Brown, a devoted companion, Norma Jean Ward; two brothers; Andrew of Jonestown, PA. and Lonnie of Richmond, VA; three sisters; Geraldine Key of Somerset, NJ; Gail Jasper and Diane Cox of Powhatan; two brothers-in-law; William Jasper and Oscar Key; one sister-in-law; Theresa Brown; eleven aunts; Gay Rose, Edna Brown, Jola Roy, Gwendolyn Booker, Alberta Harris, Amy Taylor, Blanche Taylor, Ruth Brown, Cora Mae Taylor, Thelma Hobson, and Christine Mitchell; one great aunt; Lillian Stewart; three uncles; Freddie Taylor, Richard harris, and Maurice Booker; a host of nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

You bid no one a last farewell,
Not even a goodbye;
You were gone before we knew it,
Only God knows why."
